However, due to the conflict which then ensured for most of the period between 1998 and 2003, the project could not be implemented. Since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Accra in 2003, Liberia has been relatively peaceful and stable.Democratic elections were held in 2004 and a new government was inaugurated in January 2006. There has been renewed interest in LIMPAC and the GOL made a request to the ACBF for a re-appraisal of the Project. In July 2006, an ACBF mission undertook the re-appraisal process. A stakeholder meeting was jointly arranged by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs and the ACBF team.
Project Description:The main goal of the Liberian Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Capacity Building Project (LIMPAC) was to improve the Government of Liberia’s capacity in macroeconomic policy analysis, formulation and management. LIMPAC sought to improve macroeconomic capacity so that in the Government of Liberia could formulate appropriate macroeconomic policy framework and reform programs.
