    Introduction:

    The Africa Research and Resource Forum (ARRF), based in Nairobi, Kenya, hasa regional policy development agenda to serve the countries that are members of the East African Community (EAC) namely: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda.  In December 2006, the Executive Board approved a grant of US$ 2.5 million to ARRF.

    Project Description:

    The goal of the project was to improve the quality of regional policy research and analysis for socio-economic development in East African Community. Its expected results were:

    • Greater economic integration within the East African community and improved capacity of policy makers to make decisions based on informed policy analysis
    • Enhanced research capacity among middle level professionals in the region
    • Enhanced Research and Development activities in the agricultural sector in the EAC regions contributing more effectively to improve productivity and enhance the sector’s contribution to regional economic development, and thereby reducing poverty
