Mamour Malick Jagne is an experienced economist and banker with over 40 years of work experience in the Gambia Government and private sector. Mr. Jagne worked as a Governor in all of the country’s regional offices; proceeded to be a Permanent Secretary of various ministries including Finance and Economic Affairs, Trade and Industry, and also became Governor of the Central Bank of The Gambia. He served as Permanent Secretary in the Confederal Ministry of Finance during the Senegambia Confederation and became an Executive Director of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
As a banker, he established the first Islamic Bank in the Gambia and became its first Managing Director, and shareholder. He created the Gambia Bankers Association and became its first Executive Secretary for a period of ten years. He established the Institute of Bankers of the Gambia, became its first Registrar and also lectured as required. He Served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gambia Revenue Authority for a period of six years and brought the authority to a high level of financial discipline and doubling of its revenue performance.
Mr. Jagne has three Master’s degrees; M.A in International Relationships from University of Madrid Complutense – Spain; Master of Science in Economics and Master of Arts in Development Administration from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. He also acquired a Diploma on Fiscal Policy from the International Monetary Fund Institute.
