Grace Kaimila-Kanjo returned to ACBF in February 2017 in the position of Director of Finance and Administration, after spending 21 months as Senior Capacity Building Advisor for Africa for the Rise Up program of the Public Health Institute, University of California. She is a seasoned development professional with over 29 years of technical work experience in international development and organizational development amassed through her work with international organisations and academia.
In the period between April 2010 and May 2015, she was part of the senior management team at ACBF where she served in various capacities, first as Chief Operating Officer, then Director of Corporate Affairs and as Senior Advisor to the Executive Secretary. Before joining ACBF Ms Kaimila-Kanjo served for 10 years in various management capacities at the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA), a foundation within the global network of foundations founded by philanthropist George Soros, vis, Education Program Manager, Deputy Director and Acting Executive Director.
Prior to working for OSISA, Ms. Kaimila-Kanjo worked in various capacities for UNICEF and UNDP in Malawi, and as a consultant for various international organizations in Malawi and the African region, providing training and technical advisory services. She has also served as a faculty member in the department of Communication Studies at the University of Malawi.
Ms. Kaimila-Kanjo holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Malawi, a Master of Arts degree from Concordia University in Canada, and an Executive Master’s degree in International Education Policy Studies. She also holds a number of professional certificates in management, training, communication and international development.
