Professor Emmanuel Nnadozie, the Executive Secretary for the African Capacity Building Foundation, met with the State Minister for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation for the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa on the 26th of January, 2017. This is the first meeting that Honourable Admasu Nebebe had with the ACBF following his appointment as the State Minister.
The Executive Secretary took this opportunity to update the State Minister on ACBF activities and support in Ethiopia, which he said translates to investments of more than $21 million to date. ACBF is supporting some of the key institutions in the country which includes the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI), the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) and the Ethiopian Cancer Society. The support is targeted at enhancing both technical and institutional capacities for the organisations. The country has also benefitted from ACBF’s regional support to the Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI) and to the African Union Commission.
He further expressed his gratitude to the financial and political support that Ethiopia has been extending to the Foundation since 2012, when the country became a member of the ACBF Board of Governors.
The State Minister also reciprocated his gratitude and reiterated the continued support of the Ethiopian Government to ACBF. He also conveyed his government’s commitment to taking a lead in promoting Foundation activities which are key in spearheading Africa’s development.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the AU Summit.
