ACBF mission to BADEA

Khartoum
Sudan
26 Oct, 2016

A delegation led by the Executive Secretary of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) visited the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) on 25 October 2016 in Khartoum, Sudan. The delegation met Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, Director General of BADEA and had fruitful consultations with the Technical Assistance Division. Several areas of partnerships between BADEA and ACBF were discussed during these consultations.

The mission to BADEA is part of ACBF’s effort to diversify its partnerships for the implementation of its new Strategy (2017-2021)

During their exchanges, the Director General of BADEA and the Executive Secretary of ACBF agreed on the significant potential for partnership between the two institutions and exhorted the two institutions to explore them at technical level. Several areas of partnerships were indeed identified at technical level and will form the basis for the cooperation between BADEA and ACBF over the next three years (2017-2019). These areas include women and youth empowerment, as well as capacity retention and utilization, for sustainable development in Africa.

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.

The remarkable achievements ACBF has registered over the past 26 years is not by accident in our opinion. They have come through hard work, dedication, commitment, purposeful leadership, support from the member countries as well as productive partnership building.

Mr. Lamin Momodou MANNEH, Director, UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa
Goodall Gondwe

Africa needs ACBF as much, probably more now, than at the time it was created in 1991.

Ghana’s partnership with ACBF is a tremendous blessing for us and therefore the opportunity for Ghana to host the 26th ACBF Board of Governors Meeting is something that we treasure.
