The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), the African Union’s specialized agency for Capacity Development, joins the Continent in celebrating the re-election of H.E Akinwumi ADESINA as President of the African Development Bank Group.

ACBF sees the re-election of President Adesina to lead the Bank Group for a second term as a clear sign of the confidence that Africa has in his ability to deliver on the Continent’s development priorities.

“We welcome the news with optimism and see President Adesina’s re-election as an opportunity for development partners and other stakeholders to consolidate the gains and focus on how best the continent can emerge from the depression caused by COVID-19 among other challenges. We wish him and the Bank Group success in the continuation of the journey and we pledge our support by building the critical human and institutional capacity required for the achievement of the Bank Group’s High Fives throughout his term,” says the ACBF Executive Secretary, Prof. Emmanuel NNADOZIE.

The African Development Bank is one of the three multilateral institutions that founded ACBF in 1991 and continues to support the Foundation in the implementation of its capacity development mandate in support of Africa’s sustainable development.

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.

The remarkable achievements ACBF has registered over the past 26 years is not by accident in our opinion. They have come through hard work, dedication, commitment, purposeful leadership, support from the member countries as well as productive partnership building.

Africa needs ACBF as much, probably more now, than at the time it was created in 1991.

Ghana’s partnership with ACBF is a tremendous blessing for us and therefore the opportunity for Ghana to host the 26th ACBF Board of Governors Meeting is something that we treasure.
