15 - 15IFAD, Rmoe, ItalyThe International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) has expressed interest to partner and collaborate with the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and has invited the ACBF Executive Secretary (ES), Prof. Emmanuel Nnadozie, to visit the IFAD offices in Rome, Italy to discuss issues of mutual interest, and opportunities for strategic partnership and collaboration. The Executive Secretary will be accompanied for this mission by the Manager, Partnerships and Resource Mobilization.
The ACBF delegation will have meetings with the Director-General of IFAD, the Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa as well as key staff members of IFAD.

07 - 12New Delhi, IndiaThe Conference of the Parties (COP) is an event held after every two years that brings together WHO FCTC Parties. The COP7 will bring WHO FCTC’s 180 Parties– which includes almost every country in the world, as well as regional economic integration organizations like the European Union. The meeting will review the implementation of the WHO FCTC and the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products.

03 - 04Addis Ababa, EthiopiaACBF will be organizing the Africa Governance Outlook Validation Workshop of the Draft Flagship Report to take place from 3 – 4 November, 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The main objective of the validation workshop is to review the draft Flagship Report, identify weaknesses and shortcomings, and agree on improvements required to bring the report up to a refined and near final version to be published and subsequently launched before end of year 2016.
The Workshop will bring together 36 participants, including: i) the teams of consultants from the CRTs; ii) the resource team from GMSI to support the AGO implementation; iii) a representative of policy makers (from ministries coordination finance/development planning) from each of the 10 pilot countries; iv) a representative from AfDB; and v) the ACBF.

31 - 31Protea Hotel Parktonian All-Suite, Braamfontein, South AfricaIn December 2015, the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), received a grant of USD3.0 million from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to support high-potential African organizations strengthen their capacity.
The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), is one of the organizations that will be supported by ACBF. TAC is a South African-based, membership-driven, grassroots organization, with an international reputation for effective advocacy in the HIV arena. TAC has been at the forefront of HIV/AIDS advocacy in South Africa since 1998.
The main objective of the workshop is to review and discuss the findings of the draft capacity needs assessment report and capacity building plan, which were drawn up by ACBF, as well as add information, and make recommendations for improvement.

27 - 27Dar es Salam, TanzaniaACBF will be organizing a Technical Workshop to assess the relevance of the Africa Capacity Index in the changing capacity building landscape and seek options of producing it more efficiently. The workshop will undertake a comprehensive review of the ACR data instrument, identify questions and areas needing improvements and updating in order to take into account the new developments related to Agenda 2063 and Agenda 2030 as well as the recent capacity development landscape.
The Workshop will bring together a select number of experts drawn from the ACBF-supported Policy Institutes Committee (PIC) and Strategic Studies Group (SSG).

24 - 25UNECA Conference Hall, Addis AbabaIn view of the promising recent development in the IGAD regional community and yet the many challenges that member states face, it is essential to have a platform for researchers to discuss the progress made and the challenges that faced. The annual conference on IGAD economies is such a platform initiated by the Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI) and its partners in 2014. It is believed that the conference offers such a unique avenue for researchers, policymakers and development practitioners from the region and worldwide to debate on important economic, and social developments in the IGAD region.
The main objectives of the conference on IGAD Economies is, therefore, to:
- offer a unique venue for researchers, policymakers and development practitioners from the IGAD region and elsewhere to discuss and debate important economic, and social issues of relevance to the IGAD region
- contribute to the economic, and social development of the IGAD region through promotion and advancement of scientific research on economic, and social policies related to the development of the IGAD economies.
- promote scientific research , knowledge management, and dissemination as an important driver of policy dialogue, and good policy implementation in the region

In partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Bank will hold a high-level panel to unveil the modalities and details of African Development Bank’s USD-300 million Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) program. The Forum will be held at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
